Do You Need Posture Control Insoles®?

Evaluate your gait and posture to determine if you need Posture Control Insoles®:

If your shoe wear patterns are similar to the drawings below it is a positive confirmation that it is important for you to correct your gait with Posture Control Insoles®.

Heavier wear  under the ball of the foot, particularly the 2nd metatarsal head.

Heavier wear under the outside of the shoe. Often heavy heel wear.

Walking and standing with your feet pointing out (flared) is also a good indication that you have a gait problem.

Ask a friend to check your posture.

  • Stand relaxed, equal weight on both feet with your arms at your side. To reset your natural posture, close your eyes and slowly tilt your head back and forward three times. Stop with your head in a normal position looking straight ahead.
  • Now, looking at your profile, have your friend draw an imaginary line straight up from your ankles through the centre of your shoulders to the top of your head. Is your ear forward of the line? (Head forward)

  • Then ask your friend to take a look at your shoulders. Are they straight or are they rounded (slumped forward)?

  • Your friend should check your thumbs next. Are they pointed forward or are they pointing more toward your body?

  • Then have your friend look at your pelvis. Is it rotated forward so you have a sway in your back? (belly and butt protruding)

  • To finish the test, check your foot mechanics.  Stand without shoes about 12-15 inches away from a wall. Face the wall and use your hands against the wall for balance. While your friend observes your ankles and knees from behind, bend your knees (keeping your back straight) without your heels lifting off the ground.

  • Do your ankles collapse inward when you are bending your knees?

  • Are your knees travelling inward toward each other?

  • For each positive finding: head forward, rounded shoulders, thumbs pointing inward, swayed back (rotated pelvis), collapsing ankles and knees travelling inward, you get one red check mark.

If you have more than 3 red check marks, you should consider wearing Posture Control Insoles®.   Click here to find the right Posture Control Insoles® for you.

If you have less than 3 red marks, unless your ankles are stable (do not roll in), wear Posture Control Insoles® to prevent and delay musculoskeletal problems and arthritis.
