Back to Feet Ltd. Is a company set up thirteen years ago by Alex G. Catto a registered Podiatrist, to import and distribute Posture Control Insoles® to the UK and  Ireland.

(Posture Control Insoles(TM) are based on technology developed by Dr. Brian A. Rothbart, DPM, PhD. The technology is patented in the US (6,092,314 6,212,723 6,412,198). Foreign patents are pending.)

I was in practice for more than 30 years, and during that time I saw the introduction of Biomechanics and orthotics into my profession.

There is no doubt that the addition of this specialization and these devices has vastly increased the Podiatrists’ role in not only alleviating  many foot problems, but also enabling them to take their part in in the treatment of the many postural problems caused by the hyperpronating foot.

The profound impact that  the feet have in postural problems is still not fully appreciated. It is a much repeated truism that “the feet are the foundation of the body” and your feet do indeed form the underpinning of your skeletal structure.

I spent several years working in multi disciplinary practices, and rapidly saw how effective orthotics were in alleviating postural and foot problems…….but at a price!  They were (and are!) expensive, and usually they don’t fit in everyday shoes. This was not at all popular with my lady patients.

In 2002, I read an article titled “Medial column foot systems: An innovative tool for improving posture” by Brian Rothbart, published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. The article made sense to me, but it wasn’t until 2005  that I had the chance to attend a seminar given by Dr. Rothbart. After 30 years in practice, it took a lot to get me enthusiastic, but that’s what happened! I started importing and prescribing the devices, and the results were nothing short of astounding. Not only were the results consistently better than those achieved with traditional orthotics, but the devices were comfortable and fitted in ordinary shoes. Read my patients testimonials)

Patient reaction was so positive that  I made the decision all those years ago  to start importing Posture Control Insoles® not only to benefit my patients, but to introduce them to all allied health care professions who deal with musculoskeletal problems.

Now retired from clinical practice, my daughter Susan has taken over the day to day running of the business, while I continue as clinical consultant.
